Case Study 8: Technical Services (Global)

WTP Advisors was retained by a privately held oil and gas services company to identify key intellectual property and technical services components relating to their transfer pricing arrangements for subsidiary operations in eastern and western hemispheres. We developed technical services agreements and transfer pricing recommendations for key services and technologies provided from the two management companies. 

Our transfer pricing analysis disclosed that the client’s historic pricing arrangements failed to adequately consider the valuable intangible assets that were embedded in sophisticated equipment and software used in providing the technical services.  Based upon our transfer pricing recommendations, the client modified the intercompany pricing of its global technical services, improving its global effective tax rate and reducing its transfer pricing tax exposure in key operating units.
